The Sunshine Blogger Award

Is this a tag? I’m not sure. In any case…

Well. I was nominated for the ‘Sunshine Blogger Award’, which is an award/tag which is circulated to bloggers who are considered to be a ray of sunshine.

I have no idea how I’m here in the mix, then, considering that I’m such a grumpy bit-

I was nominated by Shreya at HubEverything for this award – thank you so much! This seriously gave me a much-needed ego boost today. Go check out her blog if you like books (I really love her style of book reviews – it’s a lot more detailed than mine!) and cosmology (admittedly something I know fuck all about, but it’s hella interesting).

My task is to answer 11 questions set by the lovely Shreya, nominate 11 blogs that I love, and ask those 11 blogs 11 questions from my own brain.

RULES FOR THE SUNSHINE BLOGGER AWARD (COPIED FROM HUBEVERYTHING):

  • Thank your nominator and link back to their blog.
    • Answer the biographical 11 questions your nominator decides to pose.
    • Do the same by nominating 11 bloggers whom you adore and use the strength left in your giganto imagination to ask 11 new questions.
    • List the rules and pass the Sunshine Blogger Award onto your blog

My 11 questions were…

Q1. Which book are you currently reading? Like it, okay, or hate it?

I am currently reading nothing, unfortunately (because of college work… Bleh). The last book that I read, however, was Jamaica Inn by Daphne du Maurier. So, 5 stars. Just because it’s Daphne du Maurier and she is the queen.

Q2. Who is your favourite author?

Honestly? Probably Daphne du Maurier, Virginia Woolf, I love Jane Austen too. Contemporary authors I love are Derek Landy, Holly Bourne and Patrick Ness.

Q3. A book you (secretly) hate

I’m pretty vocal about the books I hate with the fire of a thousand suns (*cough* Anna and the French Kiss and Fever *cough*), so I don’t think there’s anything I really secretly hate. I’m not as vocal about my intense dislike for The Mortal Instruments – and don’t even get me started on how much I detest Cassandra Clare – and I thought Landline by Rainbow Rowell was pretty bad as well.

Q4. A book you love

A hard one to answer. I love a lot of books. Maybe The Bloody Chamber and Other Stories by Angela Carter or Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier? I’ll pick those two. I also adore the Skulduggery Pleasant Series by Derek Landy – and Harry Potter.

Q5. One book-to-screen adaption which you feel is acceptable and bearable

Ooooh… I’m normally a stickler for ‘the books are always better than the movies’, but I think that an acceptable adaptation is probably Harry Potter (even though I have so many problems with that film series – mostly with how Ginny is portrayed), and I also really like The Lizzie Bennet Diaries (which is an amazing retelling of Pride and Prejudice on YouTube – go check it out!).

Q6. A song that’s top on your playlist

I listen to a lot of music, so this changes from day to day, but for right now I’d go for either Conformity by Suicide Silence, Before I Forget by Slipknot, Closer by Nine Inch Nails, The Red Carpet Grave by Marilyn Manson, Memories by Weezer or Fall Into These Arms by New Politics – spot the odd ones out in that list, haha (I love music – which is why I listed multiple songs).

Q7. Fantasy or thriller?

Fantasy all the way.

Q8. Fiction or non-fiction?

Oooh. Probably fiction, because I love escaping, but I’m reading a lot more non-fiction recently so this answer may be subject to change sooner or later.

Q9. Which post of yours are you most proud of?

Probably The Reviewing Reel: Pygmalion or The Reviewing Reel: Carrie. I don’t think I’m proud of many of my posts, but oh well. I’m a perfectionist (and that is not a blessing).

Q10. Classics or YA?

Classics all the way. YA has started to annoy me recently, and I’ve started getting rid of all of my YA novels (with the exception of the authors I adore and the odd books I also love/were gifted to me by my lovely boyfriend). Classics are classic for a reason.

Q11. Your favourite joke that gets you cracking each time ; )

How many asexuals does it take to screw in a lightbulb?

It doesn’t matter how many you have, they aren’t interested in screwing anything.

My nominees are…

yes, i am meant to nominate 11, i just don’t regularly visit 11 blogs

My 11 questions for you are…

Question 1: What book do you think would work the best if it was adapted into a TV series?

Question 2: If you could have written any one book, which book would you have written?

Question 3: What popular YA novel do you think should become a classic in the future?

Question 4: Which film adaption should be burnt to a crisp?

Question 5: If you had to ban one book from all libraries and schools, which book would you choose?

Question 6: Which book represents your position in life right now?

Question 7: Spell out your blog name in song titles!

Question 8: Who is your favourite character from your favourite book? What is their theme song?

Question 9: You can add any book to an English syllabus, either in high school, primary school or university. Which book would you choose, to which stage of education, and why? (Middle school and elementary school for you Americans out there 🙂 )

Question 10: What would be the title of your autobiography?

Question 11: And, finally… What is your favourite food?

Thank you so much, again!
